Since 1999, mmHoP's Artistic Director Martha Carter has been developing her own vision of 'style fusion' with the creation of dance, new media and music productions. Transcending her roots from classical music and ballet, Martha's hybrid interdisciplinary performances are the external expression of her vision of dance as a reflection of contemporary life.

Twisted

in creation...

Twisted is Martha’s current stage and film creation about dance, scoliosis and personal transformation. The stage show reveals a twisted yet comedic journey of living with a crooked spine while pursuing a career in dance. The film is a docu-memoir-diary that swirls around the creation of the show. Martha continues to work with dancers Katy Harris-McLeod, Jennifer McLeish-Lewis, Alisoun Payne and dramaturge Lee Su-Feh for the creation of this new piece which will premiere during the Vancouver International Dance Festival in April 2009.

Martha Goes to the Ballet

From January to March 2008, Martha will be working with the National Ballet of Canada, teaching Marie Chouinard's 24 Chopin Preludes to a group of 18 dancers. The premiere will be at the Four Seasons Theatre in Toronto on March 8, 2008.
